About me

Timmy Mooring’s interest in nature started at a young age. Growing up in San Diego, California, he spent lots of time after school exploring every nook and cranny of the neighborhood canyon behind his parents apartment. There he discovering a wealth of creatures such as the raccoons living in storm drains, California quails, Cooper’s hawks, and much more. This early interest in nature never left. Getting a degree in Environmental Studies, he went on to work on a variety of conservation jobs and internships in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, Costa Rica and more. Having developed an interest in casual wildlife photography, and environmental storytelling, in 2024 he started Montana State’s MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking, learning to translate his scientific background into documentary film. He has worked on a variety of projects centered around the intersection of people and nature including international experience making films for the Zambia Carnivore Programme and the Quetzal Education Research Center in Costa Rica.
